The Unemployment benefit in Germany is a financial benefit from unemployment insurance that supports people who have lost their jobs. It is administered by the Federal Employment Agency and is intended to cover living expenses while looking for work.
Requirements for the claim
To be entitled to unemployment benefit, the following conditions must be met:

-Unemployment registrationYou have registered as unemployed with the Employment Agency in person or online.
-Qualifying periodYou have been in employment subject to compulsory insurance for at least 12 months within the last 30 months before registering as unemployed.
Amount of unemployment benefit
The amount of unemployment benefit is based on the average gross salary of the last 12 months before unemployment. Flat-rate deductions for taxes and social security contributions are made from this in order to calculate the so-called Performance fee to be determined. The unemployment benefit amounts to:
-67 % of the benefit allowance for unemployed persons with at least one child.
-60 % of benefit payments for unemployed persons without children.
Example:
-An employee without children had an average monthly gross income of 3,000 euros.
After deductions, this results in performance-related pay of approx. 2,100 euros.
-The unemployment benefit is therefore 60 % of 2,100 euros, i.e. 1,260 Euro monthly.
