What can you do at language level A2?

A2 is the next level after A1 and builds on your first experiences with the German language. You can now communicate more independently - in everyday situations, during small talk or in short conversations. You will also feel more confident when reading and writing.

Listen & Understand

You understand:

• Common phrases and expressions from everyday life
• Questions and statements, e.g. when shopping, at the office or in a restaurant

Example:

"Would you like to pay in cash or by card?" - "By card, please."

"The opening hours are on the sign."

Speak

You can:

• In simple sentences talk about family, work, leisure or health
• Ask and answer questions
• Assert yourself better in conversations

Example:

"I work as a sales clerk. I have two children."

"What time is it?" - "It's 2 pm."

Reading & Writing

You understand:

• Short texts such as e-mails, advertisements, letters or information boards
• Public notices and simple information

You can:

• Short Write everyday texts yourself

Example:
